Congratulations!
YAYY!!! If you are reading this it means that we have successfully locked in a date for our photoshoot!
A photoshoot is a unique opportunity to create art. My goal and aim is for you to not only have fun, but to walk away feeling empowered and like a goddess.
To ensure that the photoshoot is everything that you ever wanted and make things as smooth as possible, I have this whole page dedicated to everything you need to know for your photoshoot. For your photo shoot there is no single thing that you can do to prepare that will make everything turn out amazing. A successful session is all about doing lots of little things that add up to one amazing result.
Laziness or ambivalence in your planning with the expectation that things will corrected in photoshop should be avoided at all costs!
Not planning can seriously compromise the quality of your final images. Take my word for it and spend the extra time and effort here. Your attention to these areas will pay huge dividends in helping us create the highest quality final images for you.
If there is not something mentioned here, please let me know so I can answer that question for you.
MAKEUP
Trust me when I say a professional makeup artist is WORTH it for your photoshoot. This is one step that I would say is 100% ESSENTIAL.
Makeup Artists have professional products that are designed for film/tv/photoshoots and can tie the aesthetic of your photoshoot together.
Photoshoots are expensive, but if you skimp on these details you will find yourself wishing later you went to the extra step.
HAIR STYLIST
Whilst I believe a makeup artist is 100% essential for your photoshoot. A hair stylist is something that I would say is 50/50.
If you have a particular style (braids etc) that you are wanting and its not something you’re able to do yourself, then absolutely go for it! However keep in mind that your hair will be an extension of your body in the poses, often playing with the hair or doing hair flicks etc, so your hair will not be ‘perfect’ throughout the photoshoot.
If your makeup artist is able to do hair and makeup in a package, that is the ultimate find!
TANNING
If you choose to spray tan/self tan for a photoshoot, please choose a high quality brand of spray tan company to ensure that your tan will not turn orange or in some cases GREEN! If applying yourself, ensure that you are careful around :
- Hands
- Elbows
- Knees
- Ankles
- Armpits
Whilst I will do my best to ensure that the tan is even in photoshop, there may be some area’s I cannot retouch if it compromises the quality of the overall photo. Also note that not all spray tan techs are created equal, so do your best to find someone GREAT at what they do!!!
HAIR REMOVAL
There are many hair removal options, it is really a case of picking your favourite chosen method! Please ensure that the hair removal is completed a few days before to ensure that there is no razor burn/redness etc.
STYLE OF PHOTOSHOOT
It is so important to me that we create the photoshoot of your DREAMS!
I know that photoshoots can make you feel super nervous but they are actually super fun and enjoyable! I promise!
To ensure that your photoshoot is everything you EVER wanted it is really important to me to know what your vision is. Sometimes this can be hard to explain with words so I recommend you put together a vision board with either images from Pinterest or save some instagram images. This will help me to know what sort of style you are leaning towards. Usually to keep things cohesive, creating one ‘theme’ or style to your images will help to ensure that we can tie all elements in together. Although doing 3 very different looks can also be super fun as well!
When you are creating your vision board, look at the image and see a few key factors.
Is it the pose that you like the most?
Is it the location you like the most?
Is it the outfits you like the most?
Is it EVERYTHING in the image that speaks to you?
It’s important to know that you’ve booked me for the unique images that I produce. Although we can draw inspiration from the images on the vision board, we will never copy. We want to be inspired from others, but also bring our original flare and spice to the image. Trust me with my ideas so that we can make the experience unique and truly YOURS.
STYLING
Two of my packages incorporate styling, this is something that I absolutely love and would encourage you to think about! As a photographer I often piece together the whole picture of your shoot, from the location to the poses to the outfits. So having the creative ability to pick things to suit the location and images in my mind will help create some UNIQUE and truly magnificent images!
Once you have sent through a vision board with some reference images and we have narrowed down the vybe/theme that you are leaning towards. I will then create some looks for your photoshoot with outfits in your size.
I will always get approval from you that you are happy with what my vision is with the styling to ensure that we are creating the looks that you’re wanting as well. I will never just rock up on the day and show you things, you will always know before your shoot the ideas that I have.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that sizing (as we all know as women) can be extremely different between brands. Whilst I will style you in the size that you are, I will often bring along back up outfits JUST incase one of the outfits does not fit as desired.
If you are concerned about the sizing or feel you know your body shape the best, then you are always welcome to style yourself for a photoshoot (as per my first two packages) - I will happily give my advice to you on what I think will work the best and if I have any tips on extra things to get to help create the perfect aesthetic.
DEPOSIT /RESCHEDULING
Your holding deposit is non-refundable (as per the terms and conditions on my website and package information). However, I fully understand that there is sometimes emergencies that arise and often some issues surrounding C O V I D!
COVID19
If you are isolation due to COVID19, your deposit can be moved to another date for you in the future.
If you cannot get across the border into QLD, I will hold your deposit for you for 6 months to see what COVID is doing and organise another time.
RESCHEDULING
I ask for 72 hours if you need to change your photoshoot booking during normal season and 7 days for touring dates/competition season. If you cancel inside of these times, the deposit is absorbed and you will need to pay another $100 to secure a new time and date. If you cancel outside of these times, I will happily organise another date and time for you.
TIME FRAMES FOR THINGS AFTER THE SHOOT
It can be super exciting once you’ve had your photoshoot and I know how excited you are to get your images, I will always keep you updated where things are in the pipeline with your images so you know roughly when to expect them.
After your photoshoot is finished, I will go home and upload all of the images onto my hard drive.
The images are then exported into the development software to start looking through the images.
Failed images are removed (blinking/lighting issues/duplicates etc) - this process can take 24-72 hours pending on how many images. During photoshoot weeks for competition season, this process can take much longer for individuals due to the amount of photoshoots in that time frame.
Base editing begins. I like to explore with the images of the style of editing so that when you look at your gallery you are seeing what the final product will endeavour to look like. This can take 3-4 days pending on how many images there are.
Once the images have the base editing completed, they are then exported and put into an online gallery for you to look through. You have as long as you need to go through everything and pick your favourites.
Once your favourites have been submitted. I then work on the image further fine tuning, removing blemishes/bruises and bringing the image to its final place for editing. This process can take anywhere from 1 week to 4 weeks as each image will require a different length of time to edit pending on what refinements need to it. It also depends on how many other clients are ahead of you in the pipeline. During the fitness competition season it can be even be 4-6 weeks.
The final images will then be uploaded into your gallery for you to download.
Please note that there is no one straight path for editing, some images will require more time to produce that final WOW factor.
I always endeavour to have your images back to you as soon as I possibly can. Please do not send me a message asking how long it will be for your final images if its inside the 2 weeks. I will always give you an update where things are at at the two week mark so you are prepared.
PHOTOSHOOT LOCATIONS OPTIONS
Depending on the style of the photo shoot you are wanting there are many different options available for locations. EG, if you are after a resort style pool photoshoot, then we would need to look at a photoshoot location that has a pool.
A photoshoot location however, comes at an additional cost (pending on the location). You can also look at AIRBNB’s to stay in if you are also travelling as well.
If you are running a tight budget, there are many outdoor photoshoot options available.
I will advise you on what locations I think would best suit the looks, and advise on the time of day in which I think the lighting would be the best. Keep in mind that sometimes the photoshoot time can be VERY early!
I will through the year host a photoshoot location date, however these dates do go extremely quickly.
WEATHER
This is one thing that I cannot control. It would be amazing, however we are always at the brunt of what mother nature throws at us.
If we are shooting at a photoshoot location, we will always have the option to shoot inside. We may not be able to get any outdoor shots if the weather is very violent.
If we are shooting outside, I will check the weather in the lead up to the photoshoot. A small slight drizzle is okay, however over 5mm of rain is not ideal. In this instance where the weather is particularly bad, then we need to reschedule to another day. I will always try to make the call around 48 hours so that you can let your makeup artist / hair stylist know.
If you are only here for a short period of time/or I am only there for a short period of time (travelling) - we can often pivot the direction of the photoshoot and look to hire a studio/photoshoot location to ensure that we can complete the photoshoot. There is many options available.
GET YOURSELF IN THE RIGHT MINDSET
Remember: You are not doing this for anyone else but yourself.
A photo shoot is a ritual towards empowerment, a way to solidify your confidence.
You are changing the tone of your relationship with yourself, you are celebrating yourself.
Don’t be afraid to look at your own reflection and practice giving yourself compliments. During this process you are owning your power; you are beautiful and strong.
The more you practice this, the more you change the conversation with yourself and learn how to appreciate your natural energy and features. Taking care of your mental health and resting is also important. If you are rushing to make time for everything then your photo-shoot will be yet another thing you do under stress.
Recharge and free up some time before the experience to take care of your physical self.
THE DAY-OF CHECKLIST
Wear to the shoot a comfy outfit that is NOT tight anywhere (we do not want any marks on the skin, think loose maxi dress, oversized t-shirt, robe etc)
Bring water or any snacks you might want/need on the day
Any outfits (if styling is not being provided) are clean and free of scuffs/marks/wrinkles
Bring lipgloss/extra makeup to touch up
A large towel is a MUST for any shoot
CONTRACT
You will receive a contract for our photoshoot around 7 days before your photoshoot. Please ensure that this is signed before the day.
